And I'm afraid its not me!
While Ray Fellows was steadfastly walking knee deep in sludge around the marsh and mere today I was sitting being fed peeled grapes and Turkish Delight by dusky maidens on the distant island of Bali (well actually I was drinking real ale in the Post Office Vaults and the 'Wellie' in Birmingham, but I'm ashamed to say that it amounts to the same level of dereliction of duty)!
To be fair though, first Wednesday each month is my one night out with the 'Grumpy Old Men' so I have to have a bus ticket anyway and its a shame to waste it when I could be indulging myself with the brewers art.
For his efforts Ray was being delighted by views of Skylark, Chiffchaff and... a Little Egret around Ryders Mere. Good stuff (but I'm not sure I would have traded places - ooh those dusky maidens!!!).
I will attempt to make a recompense between now and the weekend - weather permitting! - Chaz
